Athlete of the Month : October 2025
Congratulations to Andrea Dupont! This recognition of October Athlete of the Month is much deserved and she could’ve been honored any month of the year. It’s impressive to see the work ethic and dedication in someone who is pregnant. Now let’s add a one year old to the mix. Andrea and Brian are setting a great example for Liam as they stay in shape and discipline. Coach Maegan is to thank for Andrea joining the gym 3 years ago. I soon learned that at the time she was starting work in the same law enforcement agency as my brother. So I instantly knew the schedule and demands it could bring on someone. It’s honestly been a pleasure coaching and getting to know Andrea a bit other the last few years. For those of you who are in class with her, you know she can be reserved but she works hard. She is easy to talk to and usually has her little sidekick Liam with her who is all smiles. As you read her Q&A, you will learn just how relatable Andrea is to most of you (as we all tend to be.) She grew up playing sports, loves the gym community and has a weakness for chocolate chip cookies. I check off all those boxes too. One thing you Giants fans might want to do is skip the question about influential people. Enjoy the Q&A. We are very proud to be able to provide the space for young families to stay fit and continue to set good examples for the next generation. Keep it up Andrea! We look forward to meeting your little girl soon too.

Q&A
Why did you start functional fitness cross-training?
I started functional fitness cross-training my junior year of college in the fall of 2014.
What’s your background? (Athletic)
I’ve played sports since I can remember. I started playing soccer at a young age and played basketball and softball throughout my elementary and middle school years. In high school I played volleyball, basketball and ran spring track all 4 years.
How long have you been a member and how long have you been doing functional fitness?
I’ve been a member of IP since I moved to Long Beach in December of 2022! I’ve been doing functional fitness for 11 years now.
What is your favorite thing about the gym?
My favorite thing about the gym is the community, especially not being from the area. I’ve met so many wonderful and caring people here.
What is the biggest challenge you have overcome since joining the gym?
I think the biggest challenge I’ve overcome is bouncing back after having my son and now finding the time and energy to workout during my second pregnancy. Ring muscle ups is a close second though.
What is your favorite moment at the gym so far?
The breast cancer fundraiser is one of my favorite events. I love the workout and the atmosphere.
What's your favorite "cheat" food?
Pizza and chocolate chip cookies. It’s so basic but they are my weakness!
What’s your go to meal to cook?
Roasted boneless skinless chicken thighs with a salad and potatoes. Also very basic but so easy after a long work day and so good.
What would you say to someone who is thinking about starting?
I always tell people that every movement is modifiable and that nobody else in class is watching and judging! We’re all on our own personal fitness journey.
What drives you?
It use to be my job but now it’s my babies! I love that at such a young age my son is exposed to a healthy and fit lifestyle. I love seeing him starting to copy what we do at the gym.

The Social Dilemma on Netflix changed my perspective on social media and cellphone use.
