Athlete of the Month - February 2026

This Athlete of the Month post is overdue and very much deserved. Congrats Lori Wroblewski on being our February honor. Most of you know Lori and the rest of you can get to know more about her in her pretty detailed Q&A below. Lori is comes from a true ‘play generation.’ She grew up on the move at all times playing a game or sport from sun up til sun down. It’s very fitting she got into group fitness to keep the friendly competition and camaraderie aspect of working out. If there’s a good beat, you’ll find her dancing. If there is a challenge, she’s up for it. If there’s a party, she’s down. If there’s an outing she’s in. Lori is a big reason we’ve had success raising money for breast cancer awareness recipients due to the legwork to get raffle sponsors. Her passion and drive to help others is unparalleled. She is a breast cancer survivor and is one gritty person when it comes to taking on tough challenges inside and outside the gym. I’m proud to coach her and love how much she puts her family first. It’s admirable.

Q&A
Why did you start functional fitness cross-training?
I have always been an active person. I need to be doing something different all the time. Regular gyms didn’t cut it for me. I don’t like to workout alone and the typical classes get boring. I also ran but I needed more. I  wanted to get stronger and faster. Especially that Frank & I were training for the NYC marathon in 2015. So that’s when I started functional fitness.

What’s your background? (Athletic)
My athletic background is a girl growing up in queens and calling for my friends to go play on the dead end or the park,  whatever sport we had equipment for. We would play two hand touch football, wiffleball, handball and whatever else we came up with.

How long have you been a member and how long have you been doing functional fitness?
I think Frank & I joined IP in 2021. I have been doing functional fitness since 2015. Well it started out as Crossfit.

What is your favorite thing about the gym?
My favorite thing about the gym is the people. I’ve made many new friendships because of IP.

What is the biggest challenge you have overcome since joining the gym?
The biggest challenge that I kind of overcame, is the fact that right now I’ve accepted the fact that I can’t do pull ups, hang on the rig or rope climbs. Hopefully, I get that back after surgery in June.

What is the biggest change you have made over the years working out here?
The biggest change I’ve made at IP is better nutrition. It’s not perfect but it’s better!

What is one or two favorite moments at the gym?
My favorite moments at the gym are when someone gets a movement they’ve been working on and everyone cheers for them! That makes me happy!!
Also, when Pitbull comes on when we’re ready to start a workout!! 💃🏻🪩

What's your favorite "cheat" food?
My cheat meal is a burger from my favorite place, No Good Burger Joint!! I love the PB&J burger! Soooo delicious!!
I also love pizza from Blue Moon!

What’s your go to meal to cook?
My go to meal to cook is eggroll in a bowl. It’s just so easy and quick to make. Just what I like!!

What do you say to someone who is thinking about starting?
I would say to someone who’s thinking about joining, what are you waiting for! It’s the best thing you can do for yourself!

What drives you?
What drives me is my family!

What is your biggest fitness goal right now?
My biggest fitness goal right now is to be able to push and pull the weight on the sled for the Hyrox competition.  Even though Margo is strong, I need her to be able to depend on me!

Who are 3 influential people (alive) who you would want to have dinner with?
I would love to have dinner with, Pink! I just love her and everything about her.
Clint Eastwood just because he’s the last of the badass western gunslingers!!
Lastly, Tim Allen. He would keep us laughing all through dinner!!

What is a book, documentary or movie you think everyone needs to check out?
My 2 all time favorite movie are, Rudy and Remember the Titans. They’re based off of true stories of grit, respect, leadership and showing up even when it’s hard!

If you could call anyone 3 people out to do a workout with you, who would it be and what workout?
Three people I would call out to workout with would be Frank, Taylor and my other daughter, Erica. We all worked out together during covid and really had fun and pushed each other. Especially when I pushed them to run!! It was fun for me but not so much for them! Any workout with 3 movements would work.
