Athlete of the Month : August 2025

Jason Genna is Mr. August 2025. Some of you have said “He hasn’t gotten it?” Well, He has now and it is very much deserved. Jay was the first or second person to join our gym from CF Jetty when it closed. For a guy who’s been in gyms for decades, he gave us a chance from the start to earn his trust and he’s been a phenomenal member since. For those of you who know Jay, he has a dry sense of humor, insane work ethic and is a family man. When I say family man, I mean family is 100% first at all times. It’s great to have frequently conversations with him. He and I are at totally different stages in parenting but it’s great to be able to share stories and talk to another guy who loves being a dad. As you read the Q&A below, it won’t take long to learn Jay is not huge of writing or talking about himself. He’s a simple guy. In fact, he has never ordered a shirt from the gym. “I’m not a computer guy. Can I just tell you to get me the shirt you have on and 5 others? I’ll give you cash.” I’ve seen Jay struggle through injury and recovery twice and his mindset has improved throughout. He takes adversity and rides the waves with his priorities in order. The dedication to his family and work is truly admirable. The effort put into workouts, mostly at the end of a long day are nothing short of impressive. I speak for our entire staff by saying we love every time he’s in our classes and the Athlete of the Month honor has been a long time coming.

How long have you been a member and how long have you been doing functional fitness?
I’ve been a member at IP since 2021.

The healthy program. Just sticking to the program with effort and I feel like I’m training towards something, without jeopardizing my health.

Nobody.  I’m simple. Not really influenced by anyone.
